The philosophy, principles, people and place behind Biflores
Ten Years of Biflores!
In 2026, Biflores turns ten. What began in 2016 as a small group of local eco-citizens has grown into a team working across Brava’s mountains, valleys and coastlines. A decade on, the island’s native plants are returning to restored slopes, fishers are helping protect the marine biodiversity they depend on, and a new generation is learning about the natural-cultural heritage around them and what they can do to restore and protect it.
None of it happened alone. Every planting day, every partner, and every person who trusted us with their land or their questions helped us get here. Here are some of the moments that shaped the first ten years.
Our impact, 2016–2026
Ten years of work on Brava, measured in plants, water, land, sea and people
Restoring the land
We have contributed significantly to better understanding the distribution and threats to native and endemic plants in Brava. Our actions ensure that they returning to Brava’s slopes and are regenerating naturally.
Water and soil
We implement low-tech, nature-based solutions that make land and water more resilient.
People and livelihoods
Conservation that directly involves and benefits local people and therefore builds communities.
Protecting Marine Biodiversity
Healthy seas depend on the fishers who know them best, so we work side by side to protect marine life and keep fishing sustainable.
Ten years of continuity!
Funders and partners
Our work is made possible by the generous technical and financial support of our partners!
